ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitate the output of pages - prioritizing where necessary to assure on-time performance.
  • Check pages against press layout, color positions and split run notices.
  • Communicate with Advertising, Editorial, Production and Circulation Divisions to meet deadlines and assure the highest possible quality.
  • Observe input spoolers, Rips, and Output to Image setters to prevent backups to workflow or delays caused by fluctuations in traffic to the devices.
  • Coordinate workflow to maintain timely flow of pages to Pressroom.
  • Make final Pre Press review of pages, assuring all elements flow to page and are present.
  • Record, as necessary, the pages ready to be plated.
  • Maintain Pre Press equipment.
  • Work closely with Newsroom and Advertising personnel to achieve quality output of pages and meet deadlines.
  • Be proficient in all Pre Press functions - Make-up, Page output, plate-making, and equipment maintenance.
