• Degree from an accredited nursing program
• BLS, ACLS & NRP Certification
• At least eighteen months of recent experience in an acute care mother/baby setting
• Other requirements to be determined by the client facility

The Postpartum/Mother‑baby nurse educates and assists new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the post‑partum period. Key duties include:

• Care for both mothers and their newborns after delivery
• Monitor mothers in the hours following delivery and support proper recovery; recognize postpartum depression and educate new mothers on managing emotions
• Teach new parents how to care for, bathe, and feed the newborn, and monitor the infant’s health
