The Safety and Environmental Specialist works closely with the EHS team to implement, coordinate, and enhance the safety, health, and environmental programs across all Carter Machinery locations and departments.

• Implement and coordinate the safety, health, and environmental programs across all company locations and departments.
• Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures to comply with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
• Assist the EHS Team with regulatory reporting and recordkeeping.
• Provide expertise on environmental, health, and safety concepts to branches.
• Evaluate facts and make decisions with sound judgment.
• Coordinate multiple competing tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Promote a positive customer experience and uphold the core values of Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, and Teamwork.

• Intermediate to advanced skills in computer‑based technology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong leadership skills.

• Excellent driving record.
• Extensive travel within the company geographic footprint (required).
• Ability to work extra hours, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
• Ability to develop safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA & MSHA regulations.
• Ability to assist with regulatory reporting and recordkeeping.

• Minimum five years of occupational safety and health experience.
• Experience leading others to achieve environmental, health, and safety program excellence at a company level.
• Bachelor’s degree in EHS or a related field (preferred).

• Required to sit, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities including close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
