Truck Driver: 2Nd Shift

Overview

We are currently offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus for Truck Driver new hires. $1,250 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $1,250 is payable after 180 days of employment. Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring a Truck Driver in Richmond, Virginia for 2nd Shift. The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting and delivering products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes.

Seeking candidates with a minimum four years’ experience driving a tractor trailer; CDL A licensure required; HAZMAT preferred;
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred;
Previous warehouse experience preferred.

• Transport and deliver products to Carter Machinery facilities and customer locations over established routes.
• Meet delivery deadlines and maintain safe driving practices.
• Load, unload, and secure cargo for transport.
• Operate a forklift where required.

• CDL A licensure with proven tractor/trailer driving experience
• Excellent driving record
• Thorough knowledge of DOT and Company safety standards and regulations; ability to conduct pre/post/periodic trip inspections
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to load, unload, and secure cargo for transport
• Ability to meet delivery deadlines
• Ability to work overtime as needed to meet customer demand
• Ability to operate a forklift

Physical requirements include frequently sitting for extended periods, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move and/or lift up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
