the role

DNV Energy Systems North America is seeking a Project Manager with a strong technical background in energy technologies (e.g., wind, solar, storage, EV, decarb, mid‑stream, thermal) and/or practical experience with project financing for our Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Advisory Services team. The team operates at the cutting edge of the energy industry, providing technical due diligence and advisory services to diverse customers in the North American market and beyond, primarily in support of M&A transactions such as purchases, sales, divestments, and refinancing of projects and platforms.

The role is based at our DNV office in Dallas (TX), Austin (TX), Houston (TX), Oakland (CA), San Diego (CA), Portland (OR), Seattle (WA), or Medford (MA), presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule of about three days per week in an office or client location. (Other U.S. offices may also be considered.)

What You'll Do
  • Lead overall project management and stakeholder communication as the key point of contact for the successful delivery of due diligence engagements.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities, synthesize key findings, and clearly communicate impacts to customers.
  • Deliver customer‑centric technical analysis for energy and infrastructure projects, including evaluation of project risks and upside potential through review of key contract terms, financial models, designs, operations, and market benchmarking.
  • Prioritize QHSE considerations and ensure a safe execution environment.
  • Coordinate technical reviews among internal specialists (civil, electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, transmission, permitting, and other DNV disciplines).
  • Perform portions of due diligence such as contract and financial model review and technical analysis (e.g., technology review, energy assessment).
  • Resolve technical issues in partnership with transaction stakeholders and internal experts.
  • Lead the reporting process, writing, editing, and synthesizing inputs into technical due diligence reports.
  • Engage with customers to understand needs, develop proposals, and identify innovative solutions for evolving markets.
  • Support customers through financial closings of projects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities for the M&A team (tool development, process refinement, training, lessons learned).
  • Adhere to the DNV system for quality management and develop procedures, instructions, guidelines, and checklists.
About You Required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year university in engineering, science, renewable energy, business, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of technical and project management experience in the thermal, solar, wind, storage, or energy/infrastructure industry in North America.
  • Knowledge of the energy project lifecycle including contracts (EPC, procurement, interconnection, PPA), technology and design, production assessments, financial modeling and economics (Cap Ex/OpEx), operations, transmission/curtailment, and common technical risks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to approximately 15% of the time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
