Network Administrator
Reporting to the Chief Operations office and collaborating with the Director of Library, Technology and Media, the Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Medford Public Schools network connectivity, infrastructure and systems.
Responsibilities- Manage the acquisition, installation, and maintenance of LAN/WAN/WLAN data, VoIP, and security networks.
- Monitor all aspects of network usage, performance, equipment, and cybersecurity.
- Coordinate the technical team's response for resolving any network-related problems and/or issues.
- Evaluate and recommend the use of network products and services for the district.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of the network.
- Work in collaboration with technical staff and district administrators to establish and implement policies and procedures for network usage.
- Interface with outside service providers to ensure effective and comprehensive network operations.
- Repair and maintain network connection devices as needed (e.g., wall jacks, cable punch-down, switches, cabinets, wireless access points, etc.) to ensure secure connectivity.
- Structure and maintain the technical infrastructure for the district, including all network cabinets, devices, and network/server facilities.
- Oversee design, installation, and operation of network services supporting all facets of the district's administration and instructional technology needs (e.g., VoIP, file shares, IP cameras).
- Collaborate with the district tech assistant for Google Administration.
- Create, support, and maintain all end-user network Active Directory accounts.
- 5+ years of experience in network administration.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Dedication and willingness to work alternate schedules.
- Proficiency in setting up, reconfiguring, and testing physical network topologies.
- Ability to diagnose and repair network problems.
- VMware, Hyper‑V, SAN, and clustered VMs.
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file server management.
- TCP/IP networking and security (including VLANs, IP addressing).
- Firewalls, routers, and network switches (Extreme networking experience preferred).
- SIP‑based VoIP systems (Zoom Phone experience preferred).
- Windows Server 2012, 2019, and 2022 operating systems.
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
- Apple OS X and iOS operating systems.
- Full-time, twelve‑month work year.
- Compensation: $90,000–$105,000, commensurate with experience.
- Full benefits package per district policy.
- FLSA status:
Exempt.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
