Nestlé is hiring for the Rice/Potato Cook position.
Job DescriptionOperates the rice cooker and potato cooker according to recipe and troubleshoots as necessary in order to produce quality product to satisfy production needs.
Primary Responsibilities- Inspects room to check that it is clean, inspected, and released. Signs SSOP tag.
- Checks that equipment is operational, safety guards are in place, and that E‑stops are functioning.
- Ensures that all required paperwork is complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Reads and follows all recipes and deviations daily.
- Maintains proper equipment settings, cooking yields, and batch yields.
- Models the Springville Compass in all work‑related activities.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
- Understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Must follow safety rules and procedures including the wearing of safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses and whirl‑gloves where appropriate.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), USDA policies and the food safety program.
- Identify sub‑standard ingredients, products, or procedures and take corrective action to insure GMP’s.
- Must be able to transport oneself to, from, and around one’s designated work area on concrete surfaces that are often uneven, wet, and slippery.
- Detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms, or instruments indicating hazardous conditions or circumstances which may cause equipment or product loss and physical harm.
- Work every scheduled day and arrive at workstation at or before the scheduled starting time.
- Communicate effectively with various support groups, supervisors, and team members.
- Must be able to weigh commodities accurately.
- Must be able to add, subtract, and multiply.
- Must have legible handwriting.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 35°F to 100°F.
- Must be able to stand and maintain a position at a workstation for a 9‑10 hour period with two 15‑minute breaks. One half hour is allotted for a lunch break.
- Able to work at least 40 hours per week on an assigned shift with some daily overtime required in case of emergencies and weekend overtime required.
- Is able to function effectively as a team member or in one‑on‑one situations, and with minimum supervision.
- Push/pull each or all of the following items on floors that could be wet, uneven, or slippery up to 1,500 feet (one at a time) up to 100 times during a 9‑10 hour period: V‑mag (400 lbs.), Dough trough (300 lbs.), 12 pan rack (500 lbs.).
- Lift/carry (from as low as floor level up to 6 feet) boxes of ingredients (50 lbs.), pans (50 lbs.) up to 300‑500 times in a 9‑10 hour period.
- Push button, turn knobs, and flip switches on equipment.
- Manipulate hand(s), arm(s), wrist(s), and finger(s) throughout shift in order to perform job duties.
- Perform all tasks with extreme accuracy.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of a General Production position.
- Must be able and willing to lift, bend, pull, etc. heavy commodities and equipment repeatedly for a 10 hr shift.
- Basic computer data entry is required.
- Work overtime as needed.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 90 days of food manufacturing experience working in a Nestlé factory preferred.
