Position Overview
Provide dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, ensuring safe and effective treatment while supporting continuous quality improvement and patient education.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM) and disease processes.
- Welcome patients and assess wellbeing since last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as authorized.
- Obtain pre‑ and post‑treatment vitals, weight, and access evaluations.
- Initiate dialysis treatment per orders, monitor intradialytic problems, and provide intervention as directed.
- Monitor patient response, record vital signs, treatment parameters, and progress notes.
- Program dialysis machine parameters, set ultrafiltration goals and treatment time, and ensure safety alarms are active.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and environment; perform pre‑treatment machine checks.
- Accurately enter treatment data into the clinical application in a timely manner.
- Assist in infection control audits and adhere to infection control policies.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and documentation.
- Support transitional care for newly admitted patients, coordinate education, and scheduling.
- Assist in training direct patient‑care staff under RN supervision.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Meet CMS‑approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
- Required state licensure, education, and training applicable to the role.
- Successful completion of the company dialysis training program and CPR certification required for continued employment.
- Previous patient‑care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred.
- Commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards.
- Ability to perform patient education, cannulation, monitoring, and documentation accurately.
Requires frequent, prolonged standing; bending over; lifting up to 30 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.; and use of assist devices. Employees must pass the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment, with accommodations considered where appropriate.
CompensationHourly Rate: $20.00 – $27.00.
