- Scheduling and Routing: coordinates optimization of bus stops, runs, and routes for general/special education students; develops and manages efficient bus routes and schedules, considering student locations, school start and end times, and other factors.
- Manage distribution of MBTA passes for middle and high school students.
- Evaluates special requests (e.g., adding stops, calculating number of students transported, plotting student locations within a boundary) and unique projects (e.g., darkness busing, simulation of different bell times, double sessions) to determine programs that meet objectives.
- Determines student eligibility for transportation based on District policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Communication: maintain strong communication with vendors (yellow bus and van vendors), update and communicate routes to stakeholders (including families), document incidents, communicate policy changes, and provide clear instructions; solicit and respond to feedback from drivers, students, and families; use transportation management software and other tools; communicate with school administration, teachers, and staff about transportation needs, attendance, and issues; practice active listening and adapt communication to different audiences;
respond to complaints/concerns related to student transportation, routes, and scheduling. - Budget: prepare and administer the transportation budget; conduct annual cost analyses and provide recommendations; work with the Finance Director to formulate transportation contract specifications; maintain cost accounting records; submit required reports to state and federal agencies; ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Compliance: maintain knowledge of student transportation laws, policies, regulations, and procedures; stay up-to-date on applicable regulations and participate in training and professional development to ensure a safe and compliant transportation system for students.
- A minimum of 5 years related experience; familiarity with bus routes and transportation needs.
- Clear and concise communications skills, both oral and written.
- Attend School Committee meetings when requested (meetings typically held on the first and third Monday of each month).
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the District Administration.
Work year is 260 days with flexible full-time hours to respond to transportation needs and timelines. Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with a pay range of $70,000 to $90,000. Full benefits package provided per district policy. FLSA Status:
