The Position

CU has partnered with a prominent local Credit Union in New York. We are actively seeking a qualified and licensed insurance broker to join our team. This role entails meeting with credit union members to address and maintain their Medicare and healthcare-related needs. Your role will involve proactively reaching out to the credit union’s member database, specifically targeting individuals who are aging into Medicare.

You will be tasked with communicating the benefits of Medicare coverage comparisons and assisting consumers with the enrollment process that is most suitable via our provided enrollment tool. It is crucial to provide a personalized experience for the members’ unique insurance needs, as you will be building trust with the financial institution and have full branch support. A proactive agent should be able to sell between 100-200 applications for the year.

As our sales agent, you will represent esteemed insurance carriers, including United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Mutual of Omaha, Silver Script, and more. The products you’ll be required to sell include Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Supplement plans, Prescription Drug plans, and various health-related ancillary products tailored to the unique needs of the Credit Union members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enjoy substantial income potential through 1099 commissions.
  • Conduct in-person and over-the-phone sales appointments to engage with credit union members.
  • Handle both inbound and outbound calls to effectively communicate with potential clients.
  • Assist Medicare-eligible beneficiaries in making informed enrollment and healthcare decisions.
  • Provide ongoing service to credit union members throughout the year.
  • Flexible

    Schedule:

    Be willing to work some nights and weekends to accommodate members’ availability.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills to balance appointments and follow-ups. Adapting the schedule to accommodate impromptu requests or urgent matters beyond regular business hours.
  • Technology Requirements:
    Possess a personal cell phone and laptop for communication and work-related tasks. Have reliable transportation for travel to meet with clients.
Qualifications
  • Hold an active Life and Health insurance license.
  • Possess 1-2 years of experience in the related fields.
  • Actively able to sell between 100-200 applications/year.
  • Be people-oriented, customer-focused, and professionally assertive in developing new client relationships and servicing existing clients.
  • Possess outstanding organizational skills with an ability to complete difficult assignments without supervision, sound business judgment, strong decision-making, and superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, technology, and computer proficiency.
