The Electrical Code Inspector performs code compliance inspections and drawing and specification reviews for construction and facilities projects at institutional and/or industrial facilities. The inspector verifies that electrical systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications, and works within the safety and security requirements of a DOE-affiliated site.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect electrical installations and modifications for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract documents.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, including applicable codes and standards.
- Review drawings and submittals for code compliance as needed.
- Document inspection results, identify deficiencies, and track them to resolution.
- Communicate findings to project teams, contractors, and facility stakeholders.
- Follow OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction safety standards and site-specific safety requirements.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in the electrical field of inspection.
- International Code Council (ICC) certification in the assigned discipline, or the ability to obtain it within six (6) months of subcontract award.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, including applicable codes and standards, for institutional and/or industrial facilities.
- Ability to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) L clearance.
- Completed OSHA 10-hour training, demonstrating knowledge and application of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
- Active National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E certification.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience working within a Microelectronics Fabrication Facility.
