Position SummaryThe Community and Family Liaison supports the District’s efforts to build an organization based on family engagement, community, and inclusion for all students. Working with District and School teams, the Liaisons improve student achievement, narrow disparities, foster a culture of high expectations, provide high‑quality instruction, and build strong partnerships with families and the community. They also create a safe, welcoming environment reflecting and supporting the student population and served communities.
The position includes a flexible workweek with frequent evening commitments and occasional Saturdays.
- Works with families and community partners to remove barriers impeding student success and engagement and build partnerships.
- Ensures effective community‑staff‑student relations by promoting communication and participation, identifying needs, and assisting with planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating district‑school‑community relations and activities as directed.
- Promotes parental and community involvement in school and District activities.
- Assists in promoting a positive, safe, and caring climate for learning that supports the student population and communities served.
- Works with district staff to identify actions the District and schools can take to support parents, families, and communities to ensure all students are ready and able to reach their full educational potential.
- Communicates information that assists parents and families in understanding their educational options and available resources so they may make informed choices for their children.
- Works with wellness organizations and related stakeholders (e.g., family support, early childhood education, childcare, health, mental health, social services, etc.) to connect with students, parents, and families needing assistance.
- Assists with implementing site‑based approaches to improving community access and involvement under the direction of the Assistant Director.
- Attends meetings with the Assistant Director and various stakeholders, including policy‑makers and community organizations, to enhance the District’s efforts.
- Assists with developing strategic plans for parent and family engagement that consider the role of parents, families, and communities in children’s academic success and address the social and economic factors affecting educational readiness.
- Supports closing the opportunity gap and reducing disproportionately high discipline incidents using disaggregated data, reflective practices, and culturally responsive discipline policies.
- Responds to inquiries from various stakeholders (e.g., principal, parents, students, staff) to identify relevant issues and recommend or implement action plans.
- Attends meetings and participates on committees as requested.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Assists with training and in‑services to staff and families.
- All Medford School District employees supervise students and maintain a safe environment.

Experience:
High school diploma or GED and three to four years of experience working with diverse populations and public schools. - Interpersonal
Skills:
Ability to interact appropriately with teachers, staff, community members, school board members, vendors, law enforcement, agencies, and students; solves conflict, maintains confidentiality, and builds a positive team spirit. - Language
Skills:
