Salary: $47,941 to $94,122 Annual

Permanent 1.0 FTE position for the 2026-27 school year. Salary range pending funding; the posted range refers to 2025-26.

Summary: The classroom teacher helps students learn subject matter and/or skills in a positive atmosphere that will develop them as responsible, respectful, and independent learners. Growth and development address academic, social, emotional, and physical needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Professional Preparedness and Growth
    • Instruction reflects a well-planned and effective methodology.
    • Develop and implement instructional practices and strategies that include multiple assessment methods, support students in meeting rigorous learning goals, and engage and encourage learners to develop a deep understanding of content areas.
    • Understand how learners grow and develop, recognizing variations across cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, as well as cultural diversity; implement a developmentally appropriate, challenging, and high-standards learning environment.
    • Make objective, non-emotional, well-informed decisions regarding student welfare.
    • Instruction reflects adequate and current knowledge of essential skills, literacy promotion, and technology.
    • Improve professional skills through in-service workshops, district meetings, continuing education, etc.
    • Set goals and collaborate with the supervisor on planning.
  • Principles of Teaching and Learning
    • Show respect, consideration, and fairness to students across learning levels.
    • Meet the needs of students with special interests, abilities, and learning problems.
    • Provide personal help and positive reinforcement.
    • Challenge students to think and express thoughts through engaging lessons.
    • Help students set achievement expectations and evaluate progress.
    • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
    • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources.
    • Make clear to students what they are learning and why.
  • Multi-Ethnic/Multi-Cultural Education
    • Include culturally diverse themes in lessons and instruction.
    • Recognize and appreciate cultural diversity and the importance of sensitive communication.
  • Evaluation
    • Plan instruction assessing student progress on state standards.
    • Use tests and other evaluative information to determine if goals are met.
    • Update and maintain accurate student progress records.
    • Consult with principal, specialists, other teachers, and students on plans, methods, and results.
    • Use instruments that effectively measure attainment of learning goals.
    • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, colleagues, and students regarding achievement and behavior.
  • Classroom Management
    • Implement effective strategies to provide a safe, secure, and respectful learning environment; communicate expectations consistently and equitably.
  • Communication Skills
    • Communicate regularly in writing and verbally with parents, students, colleagues, and supervisors.
    • Listen actively and respond professionally, aligned with district values.
    • Encourage school-to-home and community partnerships.
    • Redirect parents, students, or patrons to appropriate resources when needed.
  • Organizational Responsibilities
    • Cooperate with and support faculty members.
    • Observe school rules and regulations.
    • Assume necessary non-instructional duties.
    • Provide data to administration as requested.
    • Maintain accurate student records.
    • Assist with building budgeting.
    • Encourage parent participation in programs.
    • Colead responsibilities with other staff to promote educational goals.
  • Marginal Duties and Responsibilities
    • Set up classroom for activities and clean up afterward.
    • Answer phones, take messages, and forward as appropriate.
    • Assist with school-wide events and inventory of textbooks.
    • Assist with in-home visits.
    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience
    • Eligible for or licensed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for assignment as a teacher; experience varies by assignment.

  • Language Skills
    • Fluently communicate verbally and in writing in English; preference for applicants fluent in English and Spanish.
