CCRN Quality Improvement Specialist

Position Goal:
Serve as Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS or coach) to child care providers with the purpose of improving provider knowledge and ability to deliver quality care and education programs. A coach’s role may include working with individuals or groups to offer technical assistance, training, and resources. Coaches may conduct pre-post assessments of child care environments, teacher-child interactions, or other quality indicators.

The coach may work with providers to develop a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to strengthen areas identified in the assessment and to support providers in implementing their QIPs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete all required training from Western Oregon University to qualify as a QIS.
  • Deliver coaching to child care providers to improve knowledge and delivery of quality care and education programs, including appropriate environments, activities, and teacher-child interaction.
  • Provide coaching using strategies proven effective for adult learners.
  • Locate and deliver resources and present individual or group training, if appropriate, ensuring information is accurate, research‑based, and relevant.
  • Work with providers to develop a QIP and support implementation.
  • Submit all required paperwork accurately and completely.
  • Represent Child Care Resource Network and raise awareness of quality indicators, early childhood importance, and school readiness.
  • Comply with ESD rules and policies.
  • Perform physical requirements unaided or with reasonable accommodation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Prerequisites
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
  • English proficiency.
  • Solid working knowledge of child‑care–related programs, community resources, child abuse reporting, regulations, and licensing.
  • Excellent self‑management skills, initiative, ability to work independently within guidelines, and with diverse partners.
  • Proficiency with computer programs and the internet.
  • Knowledge of community resources within the service delivery area.
  • Positive, flexible attitude.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Pass a background check and maintain enrollment in the Child Care Division Criminal History registry.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in early childhood or related field.
  • Experience providing early childhood training.
  • Mentoring and coaching experience.
  • Bilingual language skills.
  • The equivalent combination of experience, training, certification, education, or degree that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be used as an alternative to prerequisites.

    1.0 FTE / 258 days (Full‑year annual position)

    Pay

    Southern Oregon ESD Classified Hourly Compensation

    Schedule:

    $19.96/hr to $23.90/hr for the 2025‑2026 school year.
