Start Date: Mutually agreed upon hire
Calendar: 182 days to187 days depending on school calendar

This position provides instructional, behavioral, and individualized support to students under the direction of a licensed teacher and in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements and District policies and procedures. The position supports the implementation of instructional and behavior support plans designed to meet the individual needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities, including development of functional, communication, social, and independent living skills.

As a member of the educational team, the position supports students in developing greater independence and participation in school and community activities and assists with identified personal care, health, and daily living needs according to established instructions, protocols, and student plans.

• To provide instructional support by:
• Assisting the classroom teacher with the planning and implementation of instructional activities, including strategies for reinforcing instructional material and skills.
• Implementing instructional strategies and activities under the direction of the classroom teacher to support student skill development, independence, and participation.
• Supporting students in developing functional, communication, social, and independent living skills.
• Supporting student participation and integration in school and community activities as appropriate to the student's educational program.
• Preparing and organizing instructional materials and other resources to support teaching and learning.
• Collecting student data as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Communicating with the classroom teacher regarding student performance, progress, and assessment activities.
• To provide behavioral and social-emotional support by:
• Implementing behavior support plans using strategies and techniques identified in the student's plan and as directed by the classroom teacher or other appropriate staff.
• Supporting classroom management practices in accordance with District policies and established classroom procedures.
• Establishing and maintaining appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with students.
• Supporting students in developing appropriate behavioral, social, and interpersonal skills.
• To support individualized student needs by:
• Providing assistance with identified activities of daily living and personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and other assigned personal care activities, according to student plans, established procedures, and staff direction.
