The City of Medford is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Engineering Technician IV to support important public works infrastructure projects that directly impact our community, from roadway and utility design to project inspection, contract coordination, and technical plan review.
In this role, you’ll work alongside talented professionals and apply your experience in engineering technical support, project coordination, and public works project delivery to help move high-quality improvements from concept to construction. RequiredEducation and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible engineering technical experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, surveying, construction management, computer science, or specific area of study as deemed applicable may substitute for four (4) years of experience; or,
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.
- 8 hours daily, Monday – Friday
- Opportunity for an alternate/flexible schedule after the first 90‑days, upon approval
- This position is part of the AFSCME employee group.
- Potential upcoming pay increase:
Pending AFSCME ratification and City Council approval, this position is proposed to receive a 3% salary adjustment plus a 3% cost-of-living adjustment effective July 1, 2026.
- 5% for a Master’s Degree
- 5% for an FE or FS Certificate, Professional Engineer or LS
- 5% for bilingual in Spanish
The anticipated hiring range for Engineering Technician IV position is $36.17 (first step) to $37.98 or $39.87 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.
Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
