The City of Medford is looking for an Engineering Technician III in Traffic to support projects that help keep our streets safe, efficient, and well-coordinated. This role blends fieldwork, technical review, public service, and problem-solving, with opportunities to inspect traffic-related improvements, review traffic control plans, gather data, respond to community concerns, and coordinate with contractors, developers, engineers, and City staff.

Required
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Four (4) years of engineering or related technical experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, surveying, construction management, computer science, or other specific area of study as deemed applicable may substitute for four (4) years of experience; or
- Associate's degree in areas of study listed above may substitute for two (2) years of experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above.
- Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
- Ability to maintain acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- 8 hours daily, Monday
- Friday - Potential opportunity for alternate schedule after the first 90-days:
- 9-80 (nine-hour workdays with a three-day weekend every other week)
- 4-10 (four 10-hour days with three days off each week)

Potential upcoming pay increase:
Pending AFSCME ratification and City Council approval, this position is proposed to receive a 3% salary adjustment plus a 3% cost-of-living adjustment effective July 1, 2026. The anticipated hiring range for the Engineering Technician III
- Traffic position is $34.15 (first step) to $35.86 or $37.65 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
