Role

The Financial Advisor is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial guidance to credit union members and prospective members. This includes conducting in-depth fact‑finding discussions, assessing financial goals and risk tolerance, and providing tailored investment and insurance recommendations that align with each member's needs. The advisor is expected to deliver an exceptional member experience by building trusted relationships, offering clear and proactive financial solutions, and effectively identifying opportunities to cross‑sell credit union products and services.

This role directly supports the credit union's mission and vision by consistently applying established service standards and contributing to a culture of member‑focused excellence.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • 60% Meets with members and prospective members to understand their financial goals, assess needs, and provide comprehensive financial advice in alignment with regulatory guidelines and credit union standards. Delivers tailored recommendations for investment, insurance, and retirement planning solutions to help members achieve long‑term financial success.
  • 10% Plans, organizes, and conducts educational seminars, workshops, and other marketing‑focused activities to deepen member engagement, generate leads, and promote the credit union’s financial advisory services.
  • 10% Maintains and grows an existing book of business by conducting regular outreach, scheduling annual and periodic reviews, and ensuring ongoing communication to support strong member relationships and sustained asset retention.
  • 5% Provides guidance, support, and direction to Licensed and Non‑Licensed Assistants, ensuring operational efficiency, adherence to compliance requirements, and delivery of a high‑quality member experience.
  • 5% Actively represents the credit union through involvement in community events, professional associations, and local initiatives to enhance visibility, strengthen relationships and promote the credit union's mission.
  • 5% Maintains and enhances professional expertise by staying current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and continuing education requirements. Ensures all licenses, appointments, and credentials are up to date and in good standing.
  • 5% Proactively performs additional duties as assigned, including strengthening product knowledge, identifying new opportunities to serve members, and supporting strategic initiatives that contribute to the credit union’s overall success.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience
    :
    One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Education
    : (1) A two‑year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job‑specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
  • Interpersonal Skills
    :
    The ability to establish positive relationships with members of the credit union, members of the community as well as credit union staff is essential. A positive and friendly attitude with all levels of staff is necessary to form the relationships necessary for departmental success.
  • Other Skills
    :
    Must be licensed with a Series 7 and Series 66 as well as insured for life and health in applicable state.
