Jackson County Community Justice is seeking dynamic individuals to join our team. Our department encompasses Adult Services (Parole and Probation), Juvenile Probation, Detention and Residential Services, and the Jackson County Transition Center. Through these services, we work to address criminal behavior and promote positive behavior change, ensuring a safer community for all.

We are currently hiring a Sr. Deputy Parole/Probation Officer.

Salary Range: $33.62 - $49.87 Hourly

  • Must be certified by the Department of Public Safety and Standards Training (DPSST) as a Parole/Probation Officer within 18 months of hire date.
  • This position requires the completion of a comprehensive background which will include a psychological examination by a psychologist chosen by Jackson County.
  • Submit transcripts, if using college education to meet educational minimum requirements.
  • Pass a criminal background and credit check prior to hire.
  • Submit an acceptable DMV certified court print prior to hire. Review Jackson County's requirements for an acceptable driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, which includes screening for Marijuana. Review Jackson County's Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
  • This position is represented by union group FOPPO.
Position Summary

Under direction, performs professional case management, assessment and cognitive behavioral skill building in the investigation, supervision, evaluation, counseling, re-entry and behavior change of adults on supervision; ensures and reports their compliance with Parole Board, Supervisory Authority and Court orders; maintains community safety; performs related work as required or assigned. Performs a full range of duties, possesses functional and certified expertise, and performs specialized duties in a highly independent manner.

Training and proficiency in case management, evidence-based practices, safety procedures and current law is ongoing and physically/mentally demanding.

Examples of Essential Position Duties

(The following duties represent some of the principal job duties; however, they are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.)

  • Monitors adults on supervision for felony and/or misdemeanor convictions for compliance with the conditions of their discharge, probation, parole and other situations through office contacts, assessments, case plans, home visits, law enforcement contacts, personal and property searches, and/or periodic medical testing. Prepares and submits related reports and recommendations as required or necessary.
  • Imposes sanctions, interventions and/or arrests for adults on supervision as a result of violations; prepares cases for subsequent hearings as necessary.
  • Provides individual counseling, assessment and comprehensive case planning to adults on supervision as needed to help ensure maximum results in reducing criminal behaviors.
  • Responds to emergency situations and crisis calls on a 24-hour basis at the request of law enforcement officers to include community concerns regarding threats, law violations, prison transition and general inquiries.
  • Monitors satisfaction of adults on supervision’s obligations to victims, including restitution payments, no-contact conditions, etc., and responds to victims’ concerns or inquiries.
  • Maintains, enters, and retrieves accurate records.
