SummaryUnder the supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Specialist II administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activities, including compliance with HR laws and regulations, recruiting, screening, and testing of applicants. Must hold in confidence materials and conversations of a confidential nature and, in particular, those relating to the collective bargaining process. Work is performed within tight time constraints and may occasionally require unusual hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists with coordinating the daily operations of the human resources department in a manner consistent with administrative direction, district policies, procedures, and state laws.
- Coordinates and supervises recruitment by announcing vacancies, soliciting and screening applicants, processing applications, and assisting administrators in the interview, selection, and hiring process.
- Assists with the development and maintenance of position descriptions and classifications
- Coordinates and monitors projects as assigned by the supervisor to ensure project completion.
- Interprets and administers school district policies, regulations, and contracts.
- Processes employee contracts, salary placement, and evaluation records.
- Compiles reports and surveys required by state, federal, and other external agencies.
- Maintains records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations/laws, including highly-qualified requirements. Monitors licensed staff certification, expiration, and renewals.
- Responds to telephone, mail, and walk-in customers.
- Prepares and types letters and reports of employees, including employment contracts, employment verification, and all other matters of District employment.
- Works as a team player at all levels and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Maintains competency in all position responsibilities.
- Complies with all safety and work rules, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for properly utilizing, operating, and maintaining all department resources.
- Provides support to other positions as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Business or a related field or a combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential functions. Three years' demonstrated related Human Resources related experience is preferred.
Interpersonal SkillsExhibits a high degree of diplomacy in dealing with all customers over the phone and/or in person. The employee must be able to work in a team environment and interact in a kind, compassionate, and professional manner. Must maintain confidentiality and security at all times.
Language SkillsAbility to communicate verbally and in writing fluently in English. Preference may be given to applicants fluent in English and Spanish. Ability to respond to routine and complex inquiries or complaints from staff, vendors, students, parents, or community members. Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as budgets, contracts, policies, and legal documents. Ability to write reports and business correspondence professionally.
MathematicalSkills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use spreadsheets to make complex calculations.
Reasoning AbilityA high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to analyze business issues, recommend solutions, and manage tasks/projects to completion is required.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, database, PowerPoint, email, spreadsheets, and word processing software. Familiarity with Business Plus, UKG, and other timekeeping platforms preferred.
