Join the City of Medford’s IT team as a Systems Analyst, where you will be the driving force and subject matter expert behind our enterprise software solutions. In addition to providing support for the City’s third-party ERP systems, you will also manage projects related to the implementation and enhancement of new and existing systems.

You’ll work closely with other departments to ensure IT aligns with business needs and provide technical solutions for business processes. Complex problem-solving will be a core part of your day, requiring a highly analytical and self-motivated mindset to diagnose and resolve technical issues across a wide variety of systems.

From new software deployments to ongoing administration and support, your analytical and technical expertise will be crucial in shaping our enterprise application landscape.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Subject matter expert on supported core and third-party applications.
  • ERP application installation, configuration, go-live testing, administration, support, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Analyze business requirements, research trends and industry best practices, and implement business applications to provide creative, efficient, effective, and sometimes disruptive solutions.
  • Workflow/business process analysis, including cost/benefit analysis.
  • Project management, including development of project plans and timelines.
  • Assist with projects on multiple operating systems, databases, and application platforms.
  • Communicate and collaborate with core and third-party vendor sales, applications, and support.
  • Repair and recover systems from software/hardware failures, coordinating with impacted parties.
  • Administer databases, manage user authority, and ensure integrity of related databases and applications.
  • Maintain knowledge of software applications used by the City (e.g., MS Office, MS SQL, Cognos, and related technologies).
  • Perform quality assurance over interim work products and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain customized reports and system management documentation.
  • Ensure successful application and database interfaces; install and test system and application software packages.
  • Support Windows platform, complex networks, and public access to web-based services.
  • Provide positive customer service through professional, courteous behavior and creative problem resolution.
  • Use clear verbal and written communication to support City executives, supervisors, management, and staff.
Other Functions
  • Develop functional/technical specifications identifying features and functions of an application.
  • Facilitate customer sessions to define application requirements.
  • Prepare procedures, handbooks, manuals, and other training materials.
  • Assist with development of project proposals and work program/budget.
  • Provide customer presentations, demonstrations, feedback sessions, and training.
  • Instruct IT professionals and City personnel on software applications.
  • Uphold organizational values with strong customer service orientation.
  • Handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.
  • Foster diversity, integrity, trust, and respect; be an integral team player with flexibility and cooperation.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Six (6) years of experience with computer hardware and software support, database development and management.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field may substitute for two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SQL scripting for querying databases, data analysis, and generating reports.
  • Experience with Cognos, Crystal Reports, and SSRS reporting tools.
  • Experience designing and developing data marts and data warehouses.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
