THE OPPORTUNITY
The Craterian Board of Directors seeks a dynamic, passionate leader to serve as the Executive Director for Craterian.
Performances Company (CPC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit performing arts organization, located in Medford, OR.
OUR ORGANIZATION AT-A-GLANCECraterian Performances Company serves the community of Southern Oregon as a presenting organization, producing company, and rental house, and as the owner/operator of the 750-seat Craterian Theater, and 24,000 square-foot Collier Creative Center.
- The Craterian’s mission is to enhance the cultural opportunities of the region and increase community pride by operating a state-of-the-art, multipurpose performance facility; provide a forum for community events, a center for local, regional and national performing artists; foster the development of the performing arts; and to anchor downtown Medford’s urban renewal.
- The Craterian’s goals include presenting quality productions that are within the economic reach of a broad spectrum of the community; encouraging quality productions by local performing arts groups and other outside presenters; providing and encouraging educational programs relating to the performing arts; becoming the focal point of a revitalized downtown; and contributing to the economic well-being of Jackson County.
- Originally built in 1924 for vaudeville, the theater underwent a $5.2mm renovation in the 1990s.

- Annual Programming typically includes:
- Presenting 24 national / international tours
- Producing four main stage shows with the Teen Musical Theater of Oregon (TMTO)
- Hosting 30-40 rental events, including local Art Partners the Rogue Valley Symphony, the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon, and the Rogue Valley Chorale

- Proven passion for the arts and its importance in the cultural life of a community
- Desire to serve and engage from a mission-oriented mindset
- Proven success in performing arts programming, venue management, nonprofit leadership, and fundraising
- Experience creating and managing organizational budget and finances with transparency and discipline
- Sound judgement, good humor, and leadership finesse
- Comfortability working in a small organization where leadership can mean rolling up your sleeves
- A compelling relationship-builder with the ability to inspire, manage, connect, and cultivate
- A storyteller with exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and written communications

RESPONSIBILITIESThe Executive Director is responsible overall for the financial health, artistic quality, and community standing of the Craterian organization. The E.D. serves as the chief administrator and acts as facilitator among staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors. As the organization’s principal fundraiser, this person directs and participates in all major fundraising activities. The E.D. oversees the nature and quality of the organization’s artistic efforts and programs.
This position is the theater’s ambassador to the community and is responsible for developing positive and productive relationships within our community. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and manages a full-time staff.
- Develop (for board approval) and manage an annual budget, ensuring financial stability and growth
