Science Teacher

The Rose Tree Media School District and Springton Lake Middle School seek a dynamic and student-centered Science Teacher to provide instruction during an extended substitute assignment. The ideal candidate engages students in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on exploration of scientific concepts. We are seeking an educator who designs engaging, standards-aligned lessons that foster curiosity, encourage collaboration, and help students make meaningful connections between science and the world around them.

The successful candidate creates a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can actively participate in the learning process and develop confidence as scientific thinkers.

• Minimum of bachelor's degree in science, science education, biology, chemistry, Earth and space science, physics, middle level education, or a related field.
• Active and valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Science (7–12), Middle Level Science (4–8), or another certification appropriate for teaching middle school science.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction that promotes inquiry, investigation, and problem-solving.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and support student growth.
• Commitment to developing students' critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills through scientific exploration.
• Experience utilizing laboratory activities, hands-on learning experiences, and inquiry-based instructional practices.
• Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
• Experience integrating technology and digital tools to support science instruction and student engagement.
