Job Summary The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of equipment, including dozers, wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers, graders, rock trucks, and aerial work platforms (AWP). Operators also support general yard and facility upkeep to maintain smooth daily operations. This position is additionally responsible for performing preventative maintenance during operation downtime and supporting labour duties as required.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong safety awareness, versatility, and solid operating skills.
Duties and Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, graders, rock trucks, and AWPs.
Perform preventative maintenance during operation downtime, including basic inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and reporting equipment issues.
Perform yard and facility housekeeping duties as required.
Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Minimum one (1) year of equipment operation experience in a heavy industrial environment.
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
Flexible mindset with willingness to support various site tasks.
Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Manual labour is required.
Working outdoors is required year round.
PPE is required to be worn at all times when working on site.
Site consists of variations in temperature and noise levels.
Sensory attention/mental stress can be quite high during high production periods.
