Medina County Building Permits Department Building Inspector (Full-Time)

The Medina County Board of Commissioners is seeking a full-time Building Inspector for their Building Permits Department.

Perform inspections of residential and commercial buildings to ensure the project is built to the minimum standard of the Ohio Codes and the County regulations. Provide assistance and services related to issuing permits at the public counter as needed. Advise public, contractors and architects of code requirements when asked. Assist, as needed, in the review of project applications and building plans.

Utilize the Departments permitting and enforcement software in performing the functions of the job and reporting of inspection results.

Have and maintain certification by Ohio Board of Building Standards (OBBS) as Building Inspector, Class II. Have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, with a good driving record. Able to perform inspections on sites having limited access due to rough grading and in various conditions of construction, including some climbing. Good written (punctuation, spelling and grammar) and verbal communication skills. Must pass a criminal background check and a drug screening.

Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Medical Insurance, Retirement Contributions, sick time, paid holidays and vacation earned after 6 months of employment.

$28.00/hour with full certification.
