Job DescriptionIf you possess a desire to help others succeed, this is an opportunity for you to positively impact the lives and careers of our students and graduates. The main responsibilities of an electrical instructor are to teach the craft to students by demonstrating skills and abilities through accurate knowledge of the teaching field and discipline. Plans and organizes instruction in ways that maximize student learning.
Practice excellence in teaching and instruction. Modifies instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs. Prepare lesson plans and teach courses as prescribed by the approved curriculum. Encourages the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments. Ability to connect with students from different backgrounds, ethnicity, nationalities, gender, ages, religions, or disabilities in the classroom and the lab, using various teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations.

SALARY: Appropriate placement on the Adult Education Employees Salary Schedule, based on experience and education
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee

WORKWEEK/YEAR: Hourly as determined / Part-Time hours as assigned, some weekend and evening hours
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED. Four (4) years’ of work experience in either residential, commercial, or both. At a minimum, journey‑or technician‑level in electrical, including knowledge of current code, the fundamental science of electricity, and circuitry, including electrical theory, electrical properties and measurement, circuitry, and wiring methods. Ability to obtain certification from the state Department of Education relevant to the subject/occupation taught.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, frequently using Word and email. Ability to develop lesson plans, teach basic techniques, help students to acquire specialized skills, select materials for classes, recommend training equipment, and adhere to safety regulations. Prepares students for industry credential assessments. Assists Adult Education Director with curriculum development, course scheduling, and Program Advisory Committee meetings. Ability to work cooperatively with other educators to plan programming for students.
Effective student/parent/employer communication skills, instructional techniques, and job development capabilities. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified master electrician. Previous teaching experience in career tech. Ability to develop curriculum and knowledge of instructional techniques. Previous experience working with high school and/or adult students. First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications.
