-centered learning environment that helps students strengthen their English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Through engaging and individualized instruction, the ESOL Instructor helps learners build confidence, achieve personal and professional goals, navigate their communities, pursue further education, and advance in the workforce. This position is funded through the Ohio Aspire program, which supports adult education opportunities throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver engaging English language lessons focused on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for adult English Language Learners (ELLs).
- Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs, proficiency levels, and learning styles in alignment with Ohio Aspire standards and program objectives.
- Create and utilize instructional materials that support effective language acquisition and learner success.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that builds confidence, encourages participation, and supports language development.
- Provide practical English language instruction that helps students navigate employment, healthcare, education, and community settings.
- Conduct assessments to determine English proficiency levels and monitor student progress.
- Use assessment data to adjust instruction and support individual language acquisition goals.
- Provide feedback and maintain student progress documentation in accordance with Aspire program requirements.
- Provide individualized support to help students overcome barriers and actively engage in learning.
- Create a welcoming environment that values cultural diversity and encourages student participation.
- Coordinate ESOL student connections with Project: LEARN volunteer tutors for additional language practice and support.
- Collaborate with instructors, volunteers, staff, and community partners to connect students with resources and services as needed.
- Participate in professional development related to ESL instruction and adult education best practices.
- Collaborate with program staff to support curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, and student success.
- Share student achievements and milestones with the Executive Director to support program reporting, communications, and learner recognition.
- Bachelor's degree in education, TESOL, Linguistics, Adult Education, or a related field required.
- TESOL certification or related credential preferred.
- Experience teaching adult learners, particularly English Language Learners (ELLs), preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support learners from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and commitment to a student
-centered learning environment. - Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies for learners with varying levels of English proficiency.
- Patience, cultural humility, empathy, and a passion for empowering adult learners.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, tutors, and community partners.
- Proficiency with basic technology, including Microsoft Office and virtual learning platforms, is preferred.
This position requires flexibility to teach adult learners at community locations throughout Medina County, including partner sites such as Medina County District Library, Brunswick Library, and other community-based learning locations. The instructor must have reliable transportation and be comfortable adapting to different classroom environments.
Class schedules may include daytime and evening hours based on student needs. Occasional weekend availability may be required for student events, program activities, or community outreach. Opportunities for remote or hybrid instruction may be available based on program needs.
