The Lead Teacher’s primary role is to carry out the Mission of The Nurtury to nurture the developmental needs of the whole child, to provide the experiences which foster joy, confidence and self-awareness, to create a secure and loving environment where children thrive and to support parents in raising healthy human beings.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with Ohio’s ELDS to promote each child’s growth and learning.
  • Develop a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate classroom schedule and routines.
  • Collaborate with program staff to implement curriculum and a classroom atmosphere characterized by positive guidance and behavior strategies.
  • Assess children’s developmental progress and learning through observation, use of designated assessment tools, creation of portfolios; maintain prescribed records
  • Communicate regularly with parents about children’s experiences and development.

    Seek input from parents regarding their concerns and goals for their children.

    Build positive relationships characterized by respect and an appreciation for each family’s uniqueness.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • At least 2 years experience in a licensed preschool program in a leadership role.
  • Consideration will be given for current CDA combined with 2 years Lead Teacher experience.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, play-based curriculum and Early Learning & Development Standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Enjoyment of young children and desire to support their learning and development.
