Helps foster a positive work environment that inspires, motivates, challenges, supports and provides ongoing recognition for exceptional performance. Personal Bankers provide excellent customer service while identifying sales opportunities and performing account transactions. The Person al Banker is responsible for the consistent execution of the consumer‑based and business relationship building efforts of a full‑service banking center. The Person al Banker focuses primarily on the daily sales initiatives and assumes a proactive role in customer interaction and service to include meeting with customers to discuss their specific banking needs in person and via phone.
The Person al Banker is also expected to spend significant time initiating outbound telephone calls focused on proper customer onboarding efforts, prospecting of new retail customers and consistent cross‑selling of new and existing retail banking relationships. The Person al Banker will assist the Banking Center Manager in targeted outside sales activities and participate in community service opportunities in the specific community or market.
From an operational standpoint, the Personal Banker must comply with all established Bank policies, procedures, and security measures. Responsibilities include operating as a teller, assisting in supervising, and/or providing necessary additional support of the banking center’s sales and operational objectives as assigned.
- Personally models the standards of the Bank’s Mission, Vision, and Pledge.
- Effectively assess the financial needs of Banking Center clients and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Consistently meets and exceeds defined sales goals for loans, deposits, partner referrals and profitability.
- Promote the sales culture within the banking center by demonstrating strong selling and cross‑selling skills.
- Communicate and partner effectively with branch staff and peers to promote a team environment and ensure goals are met.
- Monitor performance against the banking center goals, adjust individual goals, and initiate sales promotions as needed.
- Execute outbound calling activities using customer lists; cross‑sell consistently and refer appropriately.
- Set priorities and follow through on the implementation of defined sales and service activities.
- Promote company products and services in the community to assist in the continuing growth of the Bank.
- Support day‑to‑day operations including customer service, opening and closing procedures, vault duties, cash control compliance, inventory adequacy, audit and compliance requirements.
- Actively participate in sales and staff meetings.
- Provide service to customers and prospects on banking matters including product explanations and resolution of problems/issues.
- Build working relationships with internal business partners and seek constructive peer feedback.
- Use sound judgment and decision‑making while following established guidelines and procedures, and request assistance when needed.
- Maintain security controls to protect the banking center against criminal and fraudulent activities.
- Keep sensitive information confidential.
- Assist with answering incoming calls and other duties assigned to support the Banking Center.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Acquire and maintain proficiency in the bank’s policies & procedures and comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Complete all assigned compliance training promptly.
- Register and maintain NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System) registry to comply with the S.A.F.E. Act.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook 365; ability to learn banking software.
- Strong consumer lending skills and product knowledge.
- Ability to generate new financial relationships through outbound calling, internal business development, and building a loyal customer base.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, verbal, diagrammatic or schedule form.
- Sound mathematical and analytical skills preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi‑task and remain flexible.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must be available to work all hours of operations.
- High school diploma required.
- Preferred:
Banking, cash handling, sales, and customer service experience. - Supervisory or leadership skills desired.
