Registered Nurse (RN) Substitute – School Health Services
Make a Difference in the Lives of Students

Position Overview
The RN Substitute provides health-related services to students in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing scope of practice, school policies, and state regulations. Responsibilities may vary based on student needs and assignment location.

• Provide direct nursing care and health-related services to students.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and authorized.
• Monitor and document student health conditions and interventions.
• Assist students with medical, physical, and personal care needs.
• Respond appropriately to health concerns, illnesses, and emergencies.
• Support students with chronic health conditions and special medical needs.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to promote student well-being.
• Maintain accurate health records and required documentation.
• Follow all district, ESC, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
• Promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment.

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Ohio Educational Aide Permit or willingness to obtain one.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to varying school environments.
• Ability to safely assist students with physical and personal care needs.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

• One or more years of pediatric, school nursing, or related healthcare experience.
• Experience working with children and students with disabilities.

• Flexible substitute schedule.
