Resident Service Coordinator
Location: Union Square Apartments – 308 W. Union Street;
Medina, OH 44256
Hours: Part-Time (14 hours)
Pay: $15-$17/hr – depending on experience
Purpose: To identify the social, emotional, employment, education, and medically related needs of all residents on an individual and group basis and provide services to meet those needs.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree or higher in human services or related field;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Minimum of three years of experience serving low-income individuals, families, seniors, and/or persons with disabilities or related populations.
- Service Development, Linkage, and Coordination:
Identify, distribute information, and link residents to community services that improve housing stability, increase self‑sufficiency, and build supportive communities; conduct assessments to determine resident goals; create a network and directory of service agencies; maintain confidentiality. - Community Building:
Work with residents to develop fellowship and community using facilitation skills, develop resident associations, newsletters, orientation packages, support groups, and community‑oriented programming that meet recreational, health, educational, and spiritual needs. - Outreach and Advocacy:
Raise awareness among local service providers of residents’ needs; promote partnerships; refer residents for case management; provide follow‑up to referrals; assist residents with fair hearings; market the housing property through community contacts. - Record Keeping and Other Considerations:
Maintain resident files documenting conversations, referrals, acceptance or refusal of services, and progress; complete required reports; develop knowledge of housing rules and issues; assume additional responsibilities as requested.
- Knowledge of community support services available to residents of family and/or senior housing developments and eligibility requirements.
- Experience working with older persons and/or families in a direct service capacity, especially in advocacy, self‑sufficiency, service negotiation, and community building.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, data management tools, and internet.
- Ability to establish trusting relationships with residents, individually and as a group; listen and aid residents in defining problems; help identify solutions and resources.
- Ability to seek resident input, research service vendors, evaluate services, and adjust programs as needed.
- Ability to counsel or advocate in a non‑judgmental manner to empower residents to make personal decisions and enhance self‑esteem.
- Ability to develop community‑oriented activities that build bridges, promote interest in the property, and generate resident self‑sufficiency.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
