Position OverviewThe concrete mixer truck driver safely operates a vehicle designed to manufacture, deliver, and unload ready‑mixed concrete to customer standard satisfaction. The driver receives directions and work assignments from a dispatcher or plant manager and makes deliveries to job sites with difficult and congested unloading points. Work hours vary daily according to customer demand. Additional duties may include truck and plant cleanliness, shoveling, and sweeping.
A minimum of a Class B CDL is required.
- Works safely and efficiently.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and vehicle.
- Complies with all OSHA and USDOT/FMCSA safe‑operating practices.
- Uses PPE supplied as directed.
- Operates the ready‑mix concrete truck to deliver to construction sites safely and efficiently, obeying all applicable laws and dispatch instructions.
- Maintains communication with the dispatcher or plant manager as necessary regarding deliveries and completes delivery tickets with any special instructions.
- Frequently climbs an 8‑foot ladder to ensure proper materials are loaded safely and obtains required signatures; handles 50‑pound mixer chutes safely and adds admixtures to the drum when necessary.
- Maintains truck cleanliness, including rinsing the drum before and after deliveries.
- Collects money from customers and records transactions on the customer receipt.
- Reads receipts, writes details on tickets, and records customer information.
- Responds to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and concrete instructions.
- Performs pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safe operation and reports maintenance or repair issues.
- Utilizes tablet and computer skills; follows GPS or reads map books.
- Performs other functions as necessary or assigned, including truck or plant maintenance, truck and mixer‑drum cleaning, sweeping, shoveling, or yard work while maintaining a safe environment.
- Displays a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
- Willing to work nights and weekends as required.
- Works safely and efficiently without supervision.
- Strictly adheres to Shelly Company policies and procedures.
- Willing to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Willing to work independently when needed.
- Maintains timely and regular attendance, as expected of all employees.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Equipment that may be required includes gloves, hard hat, reflective vest, safety shoes, and seatbelt.

Valid minimum Class B CDLEducation and experience:
High‑school diploma preferred or equivalent; or a minimum of one year of related experience or training.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; present information to customers, clients, and employees in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. Perform these operations with units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
Reasoning AbilityApply common sense when carrying out simple instructions; handle standardized situations with few or no variables.
