Our client Medway Council is looking for an Experienced Social Worker to join their Children’s social work teams.

Overview

Provide proactive statutory social work support to children and families. Work within the Signs of Safety practice model to assess needs, plan interventions, and safely step families down or escalate to legal proceedings when required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload within reflective supervision, undertake focused, analytical assessments, SMART plans and reviews with clear objectives and outcome measures to ensure safeguarding and high-quality service delivery for vulnerable children.
• Model and practice strengths-based, relationship-focused social work, collaborating with children, young people and their families.
• Engage directly with children and young people to understand their lived experiences, wishes and feelings using appropriate techniques.
• Consistently apply the Signs of Safety practice model in assessments and interventions.
• Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and use council recording systems for effective case management.
• Prepare clear, structured reports for meetings and court proceedings within required timescales.
• Stay informed on current research, models and innovative practice to maintain professional standards.
• Participate in regular supervision and reflect on learning from casework.
• Maintain continuous professional development in line with Social Work England guidance.
• Keep up to date with organisational policies, legislation, and national trends to maintain high professional standards.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Competence in all areas of the Professional Capability Framework (PCF) at Social Worker level.
• Knowledge and Skills Statement (KSS) for approved child and family practitioners.
