Summer School Teacher - Elementary School
(Grades K-5, Art, Music, PE, EL, Gifted and Reading)
The Mehlville School District is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of:
Summer School Teacher - Elementary School
Position Summary: To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; establish good relationships with families and with other staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Learns and implements strategies to instruct students in high levels of learning.
- Uses technologies to enhance instruction.
- Must be able to effectively organize and prioritize work.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
- Must be able to give and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Education/
Experience:
Minimum of Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in Education
Certification:
All teachers employed in an approved summer school program must hold a valid Missouri teaching certificate during their teaching assignment. The certificate must be at the proper level and in the content area for the summer teaching assignment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds such as boxes of books, tables, file cabinets, desks, computers/printers and AV/VCR carts. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being or work output of other people.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Summer School Compensation:
$33/hour for the duration of summer school classroom experience (June 1-June 26)__7.5 hours per day. One additional teacher workday/professional learning day will be scheduled prior to June 1 and will be compensated at the $33/hour rate for 7.5 hours.
Payment Schedule for Summer School ACS Stipend:
Friday, June 18, 2026: 50% of stipend to be paid for work completed from June 1-June 12, 2026
Thursday, July 2, 2026: 50% of stipend to be paid for work completed from June 15-June 26, 2026
