Full Time. Open Until Filled.
$2,192.00 to $2,411.20 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. [$68,691.20 annual salary will be offered for candidates holding Standard 1&2 Family Dwelling or Building Certification, with up to an additional $2,500 to $7,500 annual incentive for additional Plans Examiner Certifications held, dependent upon department operational needs]. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs skilled technical work conducting plans examination of submitted building construction plans and documents that are required for permitting as provided by state law or municipal or county ordinance for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to building construction.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a minimum of one (1) valid active State of Florida Standard Certification as a 1 and 2 Family Dwelling, Building, Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing Plans Examiner issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB), in accordance with the provisions set forth in Florida Statute Chapter 468 and maintain said certification(s) in an active status during the term of employment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights above ten (10) feet. Must be capable at all times of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE). In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
