Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Reviews and approves water well construction applications.
  • Coordinates the permitting of new and existing Limited Use Wells.
  • Conducts site inspections of public swimming pools and bathing places, limited use wells, and all wells that fall under the well construction and licensing program.
  • Performs well surveys and sampling under the guidelines of the SUPER Act, Toxics, and Dry Cleaner Solvents programs.
  • Meets with property owners, engineers, attorneys, and developers to assist in the resolution/correction of environmental concerns.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of staff training in all areas of the Water Program.
  • Participate in public education (individually, group setting, and phone calls).
  • Attends training sessions, seminars, and meetings to obtain education on all environmental health regulations related to public health that are under the jurisdiction of the department.
  • Investigates sanitary nuisance complaints.
  • Protects Public Health.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours of class work in public health, environmental health, environmental science, or a physical or biological science is required.
  • Ability to use PC
  • Use of general office equipment
  • Use probe, measuring tape, scaled ruler, and ability to use other field measuring devices.
  • Operates 4-wheel drive vehicles.
  • Ability to travel to various locations in Brevard County up to 100+ miles a day.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather including 95+ degree weather.
Qualifications

Minimum –

  • Must be certified in Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems.
  • Must have 2 years of experience working in the OSTDS or well construction program.
  • Must be able to obtain well surveillance certification within 1 year of hire.

    Have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours of class work in public health, environmental health, environmental science, or a physical or biological science.
  • Ability to travel to various locations in Brevard County up to 100+ miles a day in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work outside all day in all forms of weather.
  • Required to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
  • Must be proficient in computers, laptops, and Microsoft and other computer programs.
  • Must carry a valid Driver’s license.
