Position: Assistant Professor of Economics (Tenure-Track)

Assistant Professor of Economics (Tenure-Track)

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Pedagogy

* Deliver a standard teaching load (typically 3-3).

* Teach core undergraduate and graduate courses, including Principles of Micro/Macroeconomics, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, and MBA Managerial Economics.

* Develop specialized upper-level electives in areas such as Monetary Economics, Behavioral Economics, or Environmental Economics.

* Mentor and advise students on academic progress and career pathways in the private and public sectors.

2. Research & Scholarship

* Conduct original research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals.

* Present findings at national and international economics conferences.

* Seek internal or external funding/grants to support scholarly activities.

* Involve undergraduate students in research projects where applicable.

3. Service & Community Engagement

* Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and accreditation processes (e.g., IACBE, AACSB, and SACS regional accreditation).

* Serve on university-wide committees.

* Engage in the university's unique mission, which may include community outreach, supporting student organizations, or interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

Required:

* Ph.D. in Economics from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is completed by the start date.

* Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the university level.

* A defined research agenda with evidence of scholarly productivity.

* Strong communication skills and a commitment to working in a diverse, collaborative environment.

Preferred:

* Experience teaching in higher education.

* Proficiency in statistical software (Stata, R, Python, or SAS).

* Interest in developing online or hybrid course offerings.

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech's 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.
