We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to be a seasoned individual contributor responsible for the development and integration of Navigation (NAV) software modules that interface with a Collins Flight Management System (FMS) for commercial transport aircraft. The role involves working independently on moderately complex problems and supporting certification and verification activities consistent with DAL B objectives.

This is an onsite position based in Melbourne, Florida.

What you will do:
  • Design, implement, integrate, and maintain NAV software modules that provide navigation data to the Collins FMS.
  • Develop software in ADA, C++, C, and Python following safety‑critical development standards.
  • Analyze system and software requirements, including NAV‑to‑FMS ICDs.
  • Participate in flight‑test operations, lab testing, and simulation runs to evaluate system performance under real‑world and mission‑critical conditions
  • Implement navigation algorithms, data handling, and integrity monitoring logic.
  • Implement and support AI‑assisted onboard features such as intelligent sensor fusion, anomaly detection, and autonomous control logic
  • Support requirements traceability in Jama or DOORS.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing and debugging.
  • Support verification and validation activities per DO‑178C.
  • Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and code inspections.
  • Collaborate with systems, verification, and certification teams.
Qualifications you must have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Embedded or real‑time avionics software experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python are required.
  • Experience across multiple phases of the software lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence, Jama, SVN and CI/CD tools.
Qualifications we prefer:
  • DO‑178B/C experience (DAL B preferred).
  • Knowledge of avionics navigation and FMS‑integrated systems.
  • Experience with ICD‑driven development.
  • Familiarity with ARINC 429 or ARINC 664.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with ADA and

    C.
