Position SummaryThales is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support Lab Facilities Management (LFM) and engineering teams through hands‑on laboratory build, integration, and troubleshooting activities. This role contributes to the timely and accurate preparation of laboratory environments that support system development, integration, and testing. In this position, you will apply engineering drawings, build instructions, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to execute laboratory builds, assemble test cables and fixtures, perform system setup, and support structured troubleshooting.
Findings are documented and issues are resolved in collaboration with technicians, engineers, and supervisors. The Senior Systems Engineer communicates task status, risks, and timelines clearly, exercises sound judgment in escalating issues when needed, and adheres to established processes, safety requirements, and quality standards. The role contributes to a reliable, organized, and well‑maintained laboratory environment while operating with growing independence, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to expanding technical depth and practical experience.
Areas of Responsibility
- Support Lab Facilities Management (LFM) activities by performing assigned laboratory support and technician duties under supervisor direction, executing daily work in accordance with established priorities, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Set up, configure, and maintain test laboratories, including physical lab configuration, cable definition and builds, and ongoing laboratory upkeep to support system development and testing activities.
- Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to support laboratory builds, verification, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Utilize hardware tools, test equipment, and operating systems by appropriately using basic hardware tools and test equipment and applying working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems to support laboratory configuration, operation, and maintenance.
- Manage and maintain laboratory assets and equipment records, including logging new assets, tracking inventory, coordinating calibration activities, and ensuring proper tracking, documentation, and repair coordination for customer‑owned and consigned equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting and provide technical input, including basic troubleshooting of laboratory networks and hardware systems, coordinating repairs or escalation when required, contributing technical input during lab design reviews, and communicating status, issues, and timelines effectively within the team.
- Hands‑on technical experience with a minimum of 3 years supporting the build, integration, or maintenance of complex technical systems in laboratory, manufacturing, or field environments, including systems composed of multiple Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and networked components.
- Ability to read and apply technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical drawings to support system build, integration, and troubleshooting activities.
