Collins Aerospace in Melbourne continues to grow and transform with I4.0. This description includes the Senior Process Engineer role with expertise in Through Hole and SMT processes such as Dip and Axial, Select Solder, Vapor Phase, Panel routing, Semi Auto Insertion. The ideal candidate will be self-directed with leadership skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This is a 2nd shift onsite role in Melbourne, FL (3:30 pm - 1:00 am EST).

What You Will Do:

• Responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting problems, and resolving production issues of various scope and complexity relating to quality.
• Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment. Act as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability.
• Develops, implements, maintains, and improves processes in the manufacture of printed circuit assemblies.
• Provides technical assistance and training support to manufacturing technicians.
• Supports Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
• Determines proper flow and sequence of material for efficient build process and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
• Analyze, develop and execute cost reduction opportunities for manufacturing processes.
• Provides technical interpretation of drawings and specifications.
• Evaluate, select and recommend capital process equipment. Perform cost payback analysis and generate Acquisition Requests when needed.
• Eliminate/reduce test defects and improve test yields. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve failures.
• Studies process equipment performance and establishes solutions to decrease equipment downtime.
• Maintain awareness of the technological state-of-the-art and of the Company’s competitive position in the assigned area.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
• 3 Years of experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) primary and Through Hole processes.
• 3 Years of experience as a Process Engineer

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Background in manufacturing preferably in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) primary and Through Hole processes. SMT experience a must have skill set.
• Experience with LEAN/Theory of Constraints manufacturing methods.
• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control Methods
