Overview
Avionics Test Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be a Principal Electrical Engineer to work with multidisciplinary teams developing complex engineering solutions. The organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international.
As a key member of the team, the Principal Electrical Engineer will primarily support internal customers such as Factory. The engineer will develop and maintain hardware and/or software tests for a variety of Collins Aerospace products. The role requires strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, evaluating multi‑rack test stations with equipment such as Digital multi‑meters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and supporting thermal and vibration test equipment.
The ideal candidate is highly responsive, maintains a positive attitude, performs high‑quality work proactively, and works collaboratively across locations worldwide. The role reports to an Engineering Manager and involves independent decision-making under general supervision.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software solutions.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure the electrical design is appropriate for the project/product design approach.
- Reverse engineer existing equipment, documenting existing builds.
- Support automated test software development.
- Review and verify automated test procedures that drive software changes required to support operations.
- Present project and technical status to peers, internal management and customers.
- Demonstrate excellent time‑management skills, multitasking and delegating work to support technicians, engineering project assistants and peers.

$60.00 – $70.00 per hour.
WorkplaceFully onsite position in Melbourne, FL.
