Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Technician - Level 2 or Level 3 - to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Lab Test organization. This position is in Melbourne, FL.

Please note:

A start date, for candidates selected, will be determined after obtaining Special Program Access (SAP). In this role, you will be performing a variety of tasks that will be done in a Mechanical fabrication and assembly area. Working with a team or individually in a fast-paced R&D fabrication environment. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
* Maintaining the Fabrication space including 5's and tool control.

* Assembling and building details and sub-assemblies.

* Supporting development engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical systems.

* Performs part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.

* Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.

* Conducting routine testing, troubleshooting, prototype building, and developmental engineering tasks.

* Performing operational tests to ensure conformance with design specifications.

* Diagnosing and isolating malfunctions down to the component level.

* Conducting engineering tests and collecting data.

* Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.

* Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.

* Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.

* Adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations

* Work and communicate over ambient noise

* Work in a variety of work spaces/positions. Work spaces may include but are not limited to small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces. Positions may include bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, ascending/descending ladders, and/or working overhead.

* Work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

This requisition may be filled at a Mechanical Technician - Level 2 OR Mechanical Technician - Level 3 based on the relevant experience required for each role. Basic Qualifications Level 2:
* High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.

* Ability to work from engineering drawings or models.

* Demonstrated experience with mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and/or fabrication.

* Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret Clearance.
