We are growing and adding a Senior Manufacturing Electrical/Test Engineering position supporting our product lines in the Melbourne, FL facility.
As a Manufacturing Electrical Engineer III, you will make a significant contribution to the team developing, verifying, and sustaining test processes, test equipment, and test procedures that will be used in the manufacturing of new and existing Collins Aerospace products.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:- Participate in cross‑functional team efforts to improve test yields, production throughput, test capacity, and overall product quality.
- Identify component test failure trends and perform root cause analysis.
- Implement corrective actions to resolve issues.
- Prepare test failure analysis reports as required for production.
- Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment and establish programs and solutions for decreasing test equipment downtime.
- Analyze test approach, plans, and processes for cost reduction, test efficiency, test yields improvement, and manufacturing test capacity opportunities.
- Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs.
- Identify new test approaches that will minimize production staffing needs and capital requirements.
- Select and order capital test equipment using sound cost/payback analysis.
- Generate and track appropriation requests.
- Improve existing test fixtures, equipment, and critical spares needed to improve test performance and equipment uptime.
- Participate in production readiness reviews to determine suitability of new designs for production.
- Support efforts to conduct Gage R&R on new test solutions to verify consistent product and equipment performance.
- Provide technical support for the entire product test process, from board level through floor test technicians, to meet the monthly production schedule.
- Responsible for real‑time problem resolution (RTPR) performance metrics related to equipment downtime and test process interruption, focusing on maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Develop complete working knowledge of any assigned test systems and hardware.
- Provide test engineering support during the resolution of manufacturing flow inhibitors (MFIs).
- Provide technical assistance and support to floor test technicians.
- Provide technical mentorship to other engineers.
- Interface with design engineering to coordinate design changes required for sustaining production during the resolution of obsolete parts, tolerance, and test‑yield issues.
- Work with test technicians to train them on products and test systems.
- Maintain test documentation for current configuration and oversee accurate change‑management procedures for all test documents.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in the electronics manufacturing industry with a product testing focus.
- Basic statistics knowledge.
- Understanding of parametric process control and experience in its implementation.
- Proficiency interpreting Six Sigma control methods.
- Deep knowledge of Lean electronics.
- Problem‑solving skills with the ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve operational goals.
- Detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience using analytical and problem‑solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
- Proven ability to facilitate difficult conversations and communicate early and concisely with individuals at all organizational levels.
