Overview
Collins Aerospace is hiring a Manufacturing Electrical/Test Engineering II position in Melbourne, FL. The role involves developing, verifying, and sustaining test processes and equipment for aircraft products.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in cross‑functional efforts to improve test yields, production throughput, and overall product quality.
- Identify component test failure trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare test failure analysis reports for production.
- Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment, reducing downtime.
- Analyze test approaches and processes for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
- Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for staffing and equipment needs.
- Identify and evaluate new test approaches to minimize staffing needs and capital costs.
- Select and order capital test equipment using cost/payback analysis; generate and track Requests.
- Improve test fixtures and equipment to enhance performance.
- Participate in Production Readiness Reviews for new designs.
- Support Gage R&R efforts on new test solutions.
- Provide technical support across test processes and train floor technicians.
- Maintain test documentation and accurate change‑management procedures.
- University degree and minimum 2 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience with product testing focus, or advanced degree; if no degree, 6 years of experience.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering with testing focus.
- Basic statistics knowledge.
- Understanding of parametric process control and Six Sigma methods.
- Knowledge of Lean electronics.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cross‑functional teams.
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to facilitate difficult conversations and communicate concisely at all levels.
- Prior experience in similar roles with advanced technical responsibilities.
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma practices.
