Position: Senior Avionics Systems Engineer (ONSITE)

The CNS Surveillance Department in Melbourne, Florida is seeking a Senior Level System Engineer to support the sustainment and development of new features for our Configurable Integrated Surveillance System (CISS) for commercial aerospace platforms.

Location & Position

Melbourne, Florida;
Onsite; U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status – company will offer sponsorship if needed.

Responsibilities
  • Develop product level requirements from customer and industry specifications.
  • Further decompose requirements to support both software and hardware developments.
  • Perform trade studies to support and optimize the technical solution and requirements.
  • Define integration and verification strategies for avionic functions and products, create test plans, test cases and procedures, execute system verification, and create test reports.
  • Analyze gathered data and develop solutions or alternative methods to optimize performance and increase efficiencies.
  • Communicate effectively to stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management, senior leadership, and functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering development process, including requirements management.
  • Experience leading real‑time, embedded system design and development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with flight deck design concepts and operational certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of technical project management principles to manage dependencies and risks.
  • Experience with safety‑critical, real‑time, embedded system development.
  • Experience in avionics or other aircraft system development and certification.
  • Experience developing systems compliant with ARP‑4754, RTCA DO‑178, DO‑160, and DO‑254.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in both Agile and waterfall development methods.
  • Familiarity with script‑based verification methods and practices (Python, LabVIEW).
  • Familiarity with software and complex device development life cycle and verification.

Salary Range

$86,800 – $165,200 USD (depending on experience and qualifications).
