Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Reliability Maintainability and Safety (RMS) Engineer with experience or practical application in working with electronic and mechanical systems and supporting products designed for military and commercial avionic platforms. This role will be worked onsite in Melbourne, FL. Relocation assistance is available.
What You Will Do- Supports program development through the application of reliability and maintainability techniques.
- Participates in all phases of program life cycle, utilizing reliability and maintainability methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes in accordance with commercial and military standards.
- Provides support to reliability and maintainability modeling and predictions analysis, testability analysis, maintainability and built-in-test demonstrations, environmental testing, FMEA/FMECA, and FRACAS.
- Perform Accelerated Stress Testing (AST) and develop Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) profiles. These testing efforts include Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT)/Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS), and the development of Reliability Enhancement Test (RET) procedures and reports; overseeing and conducting testing, conducting failure review board meetings, and defining corrective actions.
- Serve as a Reliability & Maintainability representative to engineering and business leadership.
- Perform safety assessment process in accordance with ARP
4761 or military assessments in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, including System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs). - Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development activity.
- Review design and development documentation for safety critical equipment.
- Review analysis of peer safety engineers.
- Mentor and train less experienced Reliability engineers.
- Accountable to team members and organizational leadership for committed work and responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain expertise in assigned areas (program, function, process, technology, etc).
- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop plans.

- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
