Collins Aerospace is searching for an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to design and develop the next generation of safety‑critical computing solutions for avionics. The role involves developing comprehensive plans, defining architecture, conducting verification and validation, and producing detailed design documentation, with a 10% travel requirement.
Key Responsibilities- Develop requirements for a highly integrated DAL A computing system in accordance with industry guidance (ARP
4754B) and program plans. - Drive product architecture discussions, focusing on designing systems that are not just effective but also certifiable through close collaboration with Hardware, Software, Safety, and Security teams.
- Support the development, certification, and sustainment of these solutions across a wide variety of Avionics products.
- Experience with safety‑critical system, hardware, or software development (e.g., DO‑178C, DO‑254, or ARP
4754A/B). - Experience authoring and validating requirements.
- Degree in STEM and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience.
- Experience with the avionics equipment certification process.
- Experience working with stakeholders to generate concepts of operations and use cases.
- Experience authoring in‑depth technical documents.
- Experience working with and testing embedded hardware and software.
- Experience developing automated tests utilizing scripting.
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external customers.
