Position Overview
Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer – Melbourne, FL.
Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems invites qualified professionals to join our Flight Test Instrumentation team.
Key Responsibilities- Work with senior engineers to define instrumentation system configurations, signal conditioning requirements, and architectures for Airborne Data Acquisition Hardware, gathering, tracking and communicating requirements to multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and understand instrumentation system configuration, recommend/authorize configuration changes, and perform engineering design tasks, support design reviews, write procedures, integrate test equipment, and participate in trade‑study analyses.
- Develop expertise with TTC Airborne Data Acquisition Systems.
- Collaborate with customers and design engineers in a dynamic, people‑focused environment.
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 2 years of related professional/military experience, or Master’s degree with no prior experience.
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance, or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
- Experience in Flight Test or Instrumentation design environments.
- General understanding of data systems, telemetry, RF, onboard recording systems, ground stations, and specialized instrumentation test equipment.
- Knowledge of Strain Gages, Accelerometers, Pressure Transducers and other common instrumentation sensors.
- Basic knowledge of data bus architectures MIL‑STD‑1553, IEE‑1394, ARINC‑429, RS‑232, RS‑422.
- Ability to navigate MIL‑STD documents and specifications.
- Design and operational experience with TTC data systems.
- Familiarity with Symvionics IADS software or experience working in a Mission Control Room.
- Ability to support post‑test data processing and analysis to provide recommendations or authorize configuration changes for flight to Engineering and Leadership.
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 – $. Depending on position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and share in company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
