Network Planning Engineer
Network Planning Engineer supporting the FAA/FTI program. As a Network Planning Engineer, you will support the evaluation, planning, and implementation of modern telecommunications network designs tailored to FAA mission-critical needs. This role includes replacing legacy copper-based systems with advanced technologies, creating scalable and optimized telco architectures, and documenting solutions that support engineering and NOC operations. The candidate will collaborate with internal and external teams and work independently on high-impact projects involving design releases, automation opportunities, and resolution of technical issues.
Other responsibilities include managing design workflows to meet implementation schedules and leading proof-of-concept efforts for emerging services.
This position is ONSITE and is located in Melbourne, Florida. This position requires the ABILITY to obtain FAA Public Trust.
Essential Functions:
- Assess telecommunications technologies and design solutions to ensure alignment with the FAA/FTI network's critical infrastructure and service requirements.
- Architect and engineer next-generation telco services to replace legacy copper-based solutions with modern, scalable alternatives.
- Deliver tailored network implementations that meet dynamic customer requirements and long-term strategic objectives.
- Establish and apply best practices in network design, capacity planning, and service continuity to support mission-critical operations.
- Oversee the telco design release lifecycle to ensure timely execution and alignment with program milestones.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent of a 4-year accredited degree in a technical discipline.
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate's degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior WAN Telecommunications networks experience.
Preferred Additional
Skills:
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Strong skill set with Microsoft Office software applications
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to design, implement and support Ethernet and TDM network infrastructures
- Knowledge of telecommunications carrier ordering systems and processes
- Experience with database modeling software such as Meta Solv
