Principal Materials & Processes Engineer / Sr. Principal Materials & Processes Engineer – Vehicle Engineering organization.

Location:

Melbourne, Florida.

Secret. Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance.

Travel

Yes, approximately 25% of the time, including visits to subcontractor locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs root cause analysis of material failures and provides effective solutions to production composite issues.
  • Generates test plans and reports.
  • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to optimize materials for engineering design and application in structures, systems, and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop non‑metallic processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Includes failure analysis, life predictions, and definition of requirement specifications.
  • May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
  • May travel to subcontractor locations as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • For Principal M&P Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience (including chemistry or contamination engineering) OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience (including chemistry or contamination engineering) OR PhD with a minimum of 1 year of experience (including chemistry or contamination engineering).
  • For Sr. Principal M&P Engineer:
    Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience (including chemistry or contamination engineering) OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience (including chemistry or contamination engineering) OR PhD with a minimum of 4 years of experience (including chemistry or contamination engineering).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance prior to start.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS, MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment with FTIR, DSC, and other analytical chemistry equipment.
  • Experience with metal or composite fabrication and design on aircraft.
  • Experience with repair processes for metal or composite materials used in aerospace structures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and accomplish them simultaneously.
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
  • Experience with military specifications and standards.
  • Experience interfacing with a military customer.

Primary Level: $98,400.00 – $.
